We all know that at least every problem has a solution and every success has a key so in business world interpersonal skills are determined a key of success towards achieving a goal especially in professional careers and I can say that interpersonal skills are one of the required life skills in order to be more successful in both professional and personal lives. Additionally we can call the interpersonal skills as “Skills at Work”. The interpersonal skills are defined as “The skills used by a person to properly interact with others. In the business domain, the term generally refers to an employee’s ability to get along with others while getting the job done. Interpersonal skills include everything from communication and listening skills to attitude and deportment.” (Investopedia, 2015). Here is concise explanation of some important interpersonal skills;

Listening; is defined as the ability which enables an individual to receive and interpret a message more accurately in order to respond appropriately [in the communication process].

In business I can say that listening is a key to effectively communicate and a skill one should have. Without listening effectively and with more attention how one can interpret and respond effectively? So listening in business is very important because it enables to focus on the words of others, style of how it’s being told, and paying attention to the ideas and thoughts of the speaker so through this one can take a positive decision and can respond to the speaker more effectively and accurately. Assertiveness; this skill can be defined as “Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive” (Wikipedia, 2015) or “Assertiveness means standing up for your personal rights – expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs in direct, honest and appropriate ways.” (SkillsYouNeed, 2015). In assertiveness skill respecting others thoughts, ideas, feelings, and beliefs are very crucial.

In business or any other area assertiveness is very important because one should be assertive rather than aggressive and through being aggressive one can face to many conflicts and/or disputes so we should stand for our rights, thoughts, ideas in a very appropriate way and have to respect others’ too so being aggressive can be useful to end up an issue very politely and with excellent deportment. Negotiation; this skill can be defined as “Negotiation is a dialogue between two or more people or parties intended to reach a mutually beneficial outcome, resolve points of difference, to gain advantage for an individual or collective, or to craft outcomes to satisfy various interests.” (Wikipedia, 2015).

In business negotiation is another important factor because there are many concerns which require negotiation in order to reach to ending point of the concern with taking the mutual interest in view and both side should be satisfied of the negotiation result. Feedback; is another important factor in business world so feedback can be defined as ““knowledge of the results of any behavior considered as influencing or modifying further performance.” (Dictionary.com, 2015).

As I stated the effectiveness of listening in business world so importantly if one have a good listening skills obviously s/he can provide a solid and positive feedback and a good feedback is as much useful as its provided properly. Persuasion; is defined as “In business, persuasion is a process aimed at changing a person’s (or a group’s) attitude or behavior toward some event, idea, object, or other person(s), by using written or spoken words to convey information, feelings, or reasoning, or a combination thereof.” (Wikipedia, 2015).  

Usefulness of persuasion is really important because in businesses there must be very persuasive managers in order to get the job done through changing the behavior and attitudes of the task/job performers. Interviewing; is defined as “An interview is a conversation between two or more people where questions are asked by the interviewer to elicit facts or statements from the interviewee.” (Wikipedia, 2015). In business world, interviewing can be really useful especially in hiring employees for a specific job, there are many benefits of interviewing such as through interview one can get a complete picture of a candidate, the willingness of the candidate for the job and so forth. Coaching; is defined as “methods of helping others to improve, develop, learn new skills, find personal success, achieve aims and to manage life change and personal challenges.” (Chapman, 2010).

In business coaching is a primary requirement because most of the employees or personnel of the business industry are required to develop and gain required skills and I personally prefer that each and every business should have specific focus on coaching.
