We all know that at least every problem has a solution and every success has a key so in business world interpersonal skills are determined a key of success towards achieving a goal especially in professional careers and I can say that interpersonal skills are one of the required life skills in order to be more successful in both professional and personal lives. Additionally we can call the interpersonal skills as “Skills at Work”. The interpersonal skills are defined as “The skills used by a person to properly interact with others. In the business domain, the term generally refers to an employee’s ability to get along with others while getting the job done. Listening; is defined as the ability which enables an individual to receive and interpret a message more accurately in order to respond appropriately [in the communication process].
In business I can say that listening is a key to effectively communicate and a skill one should have. Without listening effectively and with more attention how one can interpret and respond effectively? So listening in business is very important because it enables to focus on the words of others, style of how it’s being told, and paying attention to the ideas and thoughts of the speaker so through this one can take a positive decision and can respond to the speaker more effectively and accurately. Assertiveness; this skill can be defined as “Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive” (Wikipedia, 2015) or “Assertiveness means standing up for your personal rights – expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs in direct, honest and appropriate ways.” (SkillsYouNeed, 2015). In assertiveness skill respecting others thoughts, ideas, feelings, and beliefs are very crucial.
In business or any other area assertiveness is very important because one should be assertive rather than aggressive and through being aggressive one can face to many conflicts and/or disputes so we should stand for our rights, thoughts, ideas in a very appropriate way and have to respect others’ too so being aggressive can be useful to end up an issue very politely and with excellent deportment. In business negotiation is another important factor because there are many concerns which require negotiation in order to reach to ending point of the concern with taking the mutual interest in view and both side should be satisfied of the negotiation result.
